Works fine out of the box, 8+ hours into the game. Had one crash but resolution was 4k and once I lowered it to 2k I was fine.
Works great out of the box
Windows like experience, everything went perfectly
Runs perfectly with no tinkering

Use an Xbox-Type controller, Keyboard and Mouse are Not Recommended
DualSense Controller doesn't work with native hid-playstation drivers (even after using modprobe.) Only the touchpad works, and only moves the mouse.
No button icon prompts for Keyboard and Mouse, and no native detection of a PlayStation 5 DualSense Controller is a bit upsetting.
Worked out of the gate, no issues
This game runs at 144 fps with no tweaks on my pc

Overall works great. For multiple controllers, priority may need to be manually set by user.
When using multiple controllers, only one controller could be resposnsive to the game. It is necessary to manually set the active controller to the top priority.
Works great out of the box

Works perfectly.
Steampowered doesn't have it as "verified" but only "playable" due to some text having to being entered using the keyboard. This was probably true at some point, but it's not true anymore, everything can be done with the controller.

Proton Experimental says 'DX11 feature level 10.0 is required to run the engine' and does not start. So Proton should be change to 6.3-8. In-game config is fine. The play is normaly until the ending, and you can play also everything normaly the second loop after that. I am a Japanese, to the Japanese player, nothing to trouble to play.

WINE_FULLSCREEN_FSR=1 gamemoderun %command%
Limited refresh rate and FPS to 40. Disabled antialiasing and set the other settings to medium-high. This gives a beautiful stable 40 FPS for me.
The game crashed once when entering the castle in first town. Never occured again afterwards.

I did not need to change anything. Game works great!
Running nicely so far
So far no issues. Tested on Steakdeck for an hour so far and can see no unexpected performance issues.
Works perfectly
Zero problems.
Runs perfect

Very rarely some audio crackling, this is not specific to this game or proton version however as it happens in several other games on my system, possibly an issue with pipewire
I submitted an early report where the game didn't launch past the splash screen with the characters, this is an update to that report with the solution that worked for me.
Also tested with Proton 6.3-8 and it worked fine, with the launch flag, however there were some graphical glitches in the loading screens and low performance right after the game had loaded (it got better after a few seconds, only tried with 1 area). For that reason I stick with the 7.0rc3-GE-1 proton and recommend you do too if you have the same issues.
Got so far as exploring the first cave and did some fights, all went well.

Tried with Demo. Game boots to the splash screen with the characters and gets stuck there forever.
Tried with Proton 6.3-8, Proton Experimental, Proton 5.13-6 and Proton 7.0rc3-GE-1. System monitor detects the game running, but at very low CPU usage.
I tried the Demo and it runs out of the box without any complaints.
in ~20hrs of playtime i crashed once, not sure if this is even linux-related
Runs out of the box
Been playing for 30 hours so far and no complaints.
The game can't be closed from the main menu (this is not a proton issue), you need to close it with whatever shortcut you use to close windows, or load a save and exit from the ingame menu.
What I tested:
- Launched the demo and played it through (approx. 6 hours) until it told me to save.
- Bought the full game, continued from the demo save (see below).
- Used photo mode (see below for picture location).
- Played with controller (xbox one, A and B switched via steam) and it worked flawlessly.
- Got all the story achievements from the demo after I unlocked the next one in the full game.
- Tried out the 2D mode.
The demo and the full game have different IDs, so to transfer the save:
- I went into the steamapps/compatdata/1295500/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/My Documents/My Games/ directory and copied the DRAGON QUEST XI S DEMO folder to a safe location. After buying the full game the demo folder will be gone, so do this before or you'll need to download the files from the cloud as mentioned some posts below.
- I bought the game and downloaded it, launched it once, then closed it and copied the DRAGON QUEST XI S DEMO folder into steamapps/compatdata/1295510/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/My Documents/My Games/
- On next launch the game offered me to continue from the demo save and I got my 3 skill seeds.
If you want to use photo mode:
- Screenshots are saved in steamapps/compatdata/1295510/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/My Pictures/
- They get a dumb copyright overlay so you're better off just holding RT to disable the HUD and then take a Steam screenshot instead. (Or replace the overlay with a blank png in steamapps/common/DRAGON QUEST XI S/Game/Build/Windows/)
Another game I started on Windows and continue on Linux. No headache, everything works as expected.
there was a problem that the save data of the trial version was not linked to the original version.

5.21-GE-1 GloriousEggroll
Using proton-5.13-3 works without any problem.

Save game from demo was gone. I needed to download the save date from https://store.steampowered.com/account/remotestorageapp/?appid=1295550. Then put the demo save in the correct place: ~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/1295510/pfx/dosdevices/c:/users/steamuser/My Documents/My Games/DRAGON QUEST XI S DEMO/Steam/$USERID/Saved/SaveGames/Book/ After that the game asked me to use the demo save data and everything worked.
