might be because im playing on an old laptop but the performance was awful
text was blurry and artifacty, framerate could never get over 10 FPS, and also the audio just sounded slowed down
i kinda miss using windows a bit only for the games but honestly im sticking with linux because its better in many ways

The font is a different size and selecting a song may be difficult.
The font is shorter and wider and misaligns with the mouse hitboxes when selecting a song. Selecting songs in a long list of files may prove difficult. Sometimes the text goes off the screen.
Aside from the mismatched fonts, it is otherwise playable.

Good for a little nostalgia trip, if you're willing to put up with the fullscreen bug.
The game starts in borderless fullscreen, but underneath the Xfce taskbar. This issue occurs every time fullscreen is turned on. Alt+Tab is required to fix this whenever it happens.
If you click Play too many times on the main menu, the game crashes as it tries to display the gamemodes. Also, the quick folder selection is not optimised for Linux, requiring you to use the Java-like file selector, which then naturally leads to a repeat of the fullscreen bug.
Your multiplayer experience will be limited by the audio files you choose to play with, and whether they have been played on before by others.

Clicking "Play" in the menu more than once crashes the game, same in windows.
Can only set refresth rate to my monitor's current Hz, in resolution settings. Using two monitors (60Hz and 144Hz), gives me the option to choose between those. Using KDE Plasma (wayland).
Rare lag on first game (probably shaders processing)
Get ttf-ms-fonts (Arch) for song selection as others said before.

Used Experimental Proton

Changed graphics to normal from premium
When using the default version of Proton (9.0) the game would freeze for a few seconds with audio still playing.

While the game runs well, it stutters/freezes every so often, making it basically unplayable.
gamemoderun %command%
Significant stutters every so often make the game unplayable.

Won't launch without specifying a compatibility tool (complains about "QuestViewer not being properly installed" or something like that). Tested with Proton Experimental, Proton 9.0-2 and GEProton9-11.

Smooth until it "freezes" for 10 seconds, then fast-forwards through all the obstacles you crashed into while the display wasn't updating.
Frequent long-lasting freezes

DXVK_ASYNC=1 gamemoderun %command%
Text in menus didn't align properly, fixed by installing ttf-mscorefonts-installer
Game screen turns black when tabbing out of the game
Game crashes occasionally when pressing "Play"
Game crashes when attempting to load .m4a audio files

Proton-GE 9-2 and Proton 8.0-5 did not work with this game for me, and would crash instantly on startup. Using Proton 7.0-6 worked perfectly though, with zero issues during gameplay.

The PCGamingWiki page for Audiosurf lists support for 120hz but switching to 90hz in the game's settings has no effect, with the game continuing to display at 60hz.

the proton version that is first selected when enabling "Enable Steam Play for all titles" is good enough to run the game
DXVK_ASYNC=1 gamemoderun %command%
misalligned text
install ttf-ms-fonts using your preferred AUR helper (Arch distros) / package manager (other distros) to fix misalligned text when selecting music
game will rarely crash shortly after clicking the start button
make a symlink to "$HOME/Music" in the game's prefix folder (Steam/steamapps/compatdata/12900/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser) to make selecting music easier:
- delete the already present music folder and open the steamuser folder in terminal
- run the command
ln -s $HOME/Music Music
Works perfectly OOTB, even the tutorial videos

resolution is hard to choose right in the menus without making changes to controller preset

Unable to launch
both the currently recommended version and the mentioned 4.2.9 are leaving me at "Launching game"
DXVK_ASYNC=1 gamemoderun gamescope -W 2560 -H 1440 -f -- %command%
Plays great. I think I felt less input lag with "DXVK_ASYNC=1" in the launch options, although there already wasn't any discernible input lag. Gamescope isn't 100% necessary, but if I switched the window focus outside of the game, the window would disappear. I run Hyprland (a Wayland tiling compositor), so it might be an issue with that, specifically. Issues like this are why I tend to run gamescope with all games by default.
Scoreboards work perfectly fine and I was able to submit new highscores without problems.
Make sure to install ttf-mscorefonts-installer
in the terminal via sudo apt install ttf-mscorefonts-installer
on Ubuntu/Debian based distros.
game sometimes crashes when pressing play. i put my music in the sd card for easier access (appears as d drive)
Runs perfectly for me with no noticable issues.
Feels laggy during gameplay. When collecting grey blocks and removing them, it completely lags out for a moment.
Song selector doesn't work correctly. Use pop-up browser to navigate through songs or torture yourself with the in-game song selector.
Scoreboards work perfectly fine.
Crackling of audio is really noticeable, which is not good for a rythm game.
Game randomly crashes during songs. Unplayable because of this.
Song selector is really wonky but is fixed by installing ttf-mscorefonts-installer from terminal using sudo apt install ttf-mscorefonts-installer
Scoreboards load perfectly fine.
I tried to use almost every launch option I could use (ex. PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
). Nothing works.
for the most part this ran perfectly as if it was a native Linux port, even the tutorial videos worked
Only issue I've seen is the game would black screen when I tried to alt+tab out but restarting the game fixed that issue.
Had to move audiofiles via desktop to the steam deck
Rarely crashes after starting a track
I used a network share to get songs on the deck
Highest graphical setting doesn't work
To easily access your music folder, go to "/home/$USER/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/12900/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/", delete the "Music" folder and replace it with a symlink of your music folder through CLI or your file manager. Don't know if it works with a folder on a NTFS drive To resolve the weird font, install ttf-ms-fonts. It was available in the Manjaro Software Center, not sure with other distros. Other than that, runs great, a few bugs here and there but it was the same on native Windows. I'd say there's a bit less dips at high framerate (120/144fps) but I have no test to prove it
Works, but crushes sometimes
Game works well however if you want to use your own songs some tinkering in the desktop is needed to get them in am accessible area.
Cannot open NTFS folders. Opening native file dialog crashes the game.
Runs flawlessly.

Text in menus does not quite align with where you have to click.
Game stops responding to mouse input once in fullscreen
Still runs best under 4.11-13, 6.3-8 has fixed stuttering of 5.* Protons but has some input lag for me.
Doesn't launch for me
Works great, even on my old computer.
Had to turn down graphics to make the game run smoothly.
Works perfectly.
On 6.3.7 module runs like native! AudioSurf should be classified as Platinum, not gold.

Cannot install
Steam reports message "Not available on your current platform"
Works fine.

totally fine
needs setting the graphics preset to low, medium or high (ultra doesn't work entirely)
Sometimes the player vehicle didn't move at all during a song. Sometimes, it would move, but the blocks would appear just before they were to be hit, significantly increasing difficulty
