There's a black window in vanilla Proton; I didn't bother with customizing it, simply using the GE version is enough.
As per the previous two games, I tried copying the configurations, and I have, in fact, narrowed down what must be done: Run protontricks and install WSH57,, and then run it again and install WMP9, which includes some additional programs. For a guaranteed order to make the game work: 1) run the game to register it with protontricks; 2) use protontricks to install the WSH57 Windows component/DLL; 3) run the game again to register the component; 4) install the WMP9 (Windows Media Player 9) application with protontricks -- WMP9 WILL FAIL, but it installs other DLLs and executables that are needed; 4) restart Steam and run the game again -- it should now work.
